With
Iran refusing to end the nuclear programs that it hid from the world for nearly two decades, legislation is pending in Congress
that would tighten sanctions imposed on the Islamic republic under the Iran Libya Sanctions Act of 1996 (ILSA). The Iran Freedom
Support Act would tighten sanctions on companies that invest in Tehran's energy sector in the hopes of choking off money that
it could use to assemble atomic arms. The bill would also provide assistance to pro-democracy forces and groups within Iran
and would fund independent broadcasts to the country. Reps. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) and Howard Berman (D-CA) introduced
the House version of the bill (H.R. 282), whose Senate companion (S. 333) is sponsored by Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA). |

The Terrorist Groups Hizballah, Al Dawa'a Party ,
the Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq and the Kurdish Peshmarga Militias |
|
|
Though
Hizballah, Al Dawaa, the Peshmarga and the SCIRI has killed hundreds of Americans, Europeans and Iraqis, the European
Union (EU) has never added it to its list of terrorist organizations. As a result, the group has the ability to raise money
throughout Europe. The House of Representatives and Senate have overwhelmingly passed resolutions urging the EU to add Hizballah,
Al Dawaa, Peshmarga and SCIRI to its terror list. Thank your lawmakers for supporting these resolutions. |
